The bachelor thesis is focused on alternative forms of investment (commemorative coins made of precious metals and French wines- Bordeaux) in comparison with common financial investments available within the financial market (life insurance, additional pension insurance and collective investment). The theoretical part places emphasis on definition of various investment forms principles and highlighting particular advantages and negatives. In the practical part, there are these investment tools analysed and consequently compared.
Collective investment in the light of a new Ect on investment companies and investment funds

The first chapter deals with basic issues of mutual fund industry. The aim of this chapter is to look at mutual fund as an institution especially from a fundamental economic perspective and come through into its economic nature. Furthermore the chapter contain description of main benefits of mutual funds as compared with the individual investment, draws attention to the problem of conflicts of interest and contains the basic classification of investment funds. The aim of the second chapter is to describe in basic features of legal framework of mutual fund industry in Czech Republic in the light of new Investment Company and Investment Fund Law. With regard to the scope of respective law, focuses the chapter mainly on applicability, structure, individual persons, legal forms and on some chosen questions. Content of the third chapter is brief treatise about taxation with respect to the mutual fund industry. This include case study performed on model situation and outline to the investment fund taxation in Luxembourg and Cayman Islands. The goal of this chapter is to evaluate whether intention to set up an attractive tax environment in the Czech Republic was successful or not.
Regional analysis of assets of mutual funds in Czech Republic

Mutual Funds in the Czech Republic are managed and administered by local and foreign investment companies. The aim of this thesis is to execute a regional analysis of assets distribution of the largest mutual funds based on information about portfolio of securities. Thus, it reveals, into which countries (in the case of Czech Republic: regions) and groupings, investments of mutual funds are directed the most. Furthermore, the typology of mutual funds and proprietary structures of administering investment companies are discovered. The results of the work show that investments of the mutual funds in the Czech Republic are concentrated mainly in the capital city, Prague. Concentration of headquarters of local investment companies in Prague has been found out as well, which confirms the position of the capital city as the financial centre. Effect of Exchange Rate Hedging on the Performance of Collective Investment Fund

Collective investment is among the fastest growing areas of investment in financial markets. Its importance within each economy is influenced by the level of development of the capital market. The beginnings of collective investment in the Czech Republic are associated with the coupon privatization in the 90s of the last century. The basic advantages of this method of investing can include risk diversification, professional portfolio management, liquidity of the investment, regulation and tax benefits. The theoretical part describes the historical development of this business in the financial market. The systematization of collective investment was proposed according to the subject of investing, the method of returns distribution to investors, the terms of investment strategy, the investor's investment profile and according to the existing legislation. Transparent classification schemes were created for particular perspectives. The analytical part of the thesis analyzes the processes used to measure the performance of mutual funds, characterization of the risks associated with collective investment and the possible ways to hedge the foreign currency exchange rate risk. The outputs of the thesis respond to two hypotheses: H1: The monthly cost to hedge the foreign exchange risk affects the monthly performance of the mutual fund on the basis of the correlation in time series. H2: Is the information on the costs of exchange rate hedging required for quality decisionmaking for a small investor (consumer).
Comparison of investment opportunities in mutual funds

This thesis deals with the comparison of selected mutual funds in the Czech Republic. The main aim of this thesis is to evaluate the situation on the securities market of mutual funds and help to the investor with right choice of mutual fund. Work is initially devoted to the characteristics and history of collective investment. The following section describes mutual funds their characteristics, classification, creation and termination. Conclusion of the theoretical part is devoted to investment certificates. In the practical part is first performed market analysis and obtained information about investment companies in the Czech Republic. Consequently are selected three largest investment companies of the capital market and selected one equity mutual fund and one bond mutual fund from each company. One chapter of the practical part is devoted to the influence of the financial crisis on collective investment and selected mutual funds. The last and most important part of this thesis is the comparison of selected mutual funds according to these criteria profitability, risk, total expense ratio, fees and the possibility of redemption of investment certificates. As the main data sources were used websites of investment companies, the Czech National Bank and Capital Market Association of the Czech Republic.
